Ten Steps Book and Blog Set Up!

  • Review Tests 3 and 4 Pages 88-95
  • Be prepared to discuss the Discussion questions on page 95
  • You may use your dictionaries now, but try to look for the context clues in the sentences to help you as much as possible.

Shop for a Novel of your choice. Check the "blue" handout. Go to the Information Desk at bookstore and explain that you are learning English and would like a book popular for young adults. Open it and begin reading somewhere and see if you understand about 70%. Keep the receipt in case you need to return it. Bring the book to class and check it out with Gail.

Get started setting up your blog this weekend.

  • Go to http://www.blogger.com/
  • Create a blog.
  • You might have to create google account. If you are asked to do that, go ahead and do it, but don't worry, you don't have to use it. You can still use the email account that you always use. You should use your regular email address as your user name. That is easy to remember.
  • Post a picture of you that is suitable for an academic situation.
  • Introduce yourself, your major, future job possibilities and how you hope to use English.
  • Explain how your major and pas studies or experiences have helped get you to where you are now in Seattle!
  • Explain the things that are important to you, observations about Seattle.
  • Tell the kind of news that you are interested in.
  • How often do you read the newspaper here in Seattle or in your home country.
  • Length of introduction should be about 200 words.
  • Copy and paste your address into an email and send it to Gail at gclaas@sccd.ctc.edu
  • Be sure to tell me what class you are in and your name! :)
